Job mobility at historic low
Every two years, Insilencio’s labour market barometer analyses job mobility in Belgium. With this study, we get a full strategic insight into the market, resulting in more effective employer marketing campaigns. On behalf of Insilencio, the Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUB) consulted 2.224 active professionals – all of which have a higher degree (min. Bachelor’s) and are aged between 20 and 45.
The labour market barometer of April 2011 shows that the average employee’s intention to switch jobs is much lower than during the economic crisis. A high satisfaction level regarding the current professional situation is the main cause of this result.
Add the explosive growth of open job positions to the barometer’s outcome, and it becomes clear that the market is heading for a new ‘war for talent’. Employers will need the right response to this rising challenge, as the Belgian employee has high demands when it comes to his or her career. Company values and a strong employer brand will therefore be crucial to attract and retain talent.
